Kids parties and more

Another weekend has past with lots of kids reptile parties in Melbourne, a few corporate reptile shows in Victoria and also some reptile displays in Victoria for farming expos and ag shows.

The phone rang with a few snake removals in Melbourne, including for a Brown Snake living under a pool in Eltham and a few snakes further afield, including a call out in Sydney, whom I referred to someone a little closer.

I even scammed a pallet of newspaper about to be thrown into a dumpmaster, which is what I needed as the snakes poo a lot and they do it on this and it’s easy to clean.

(And you thought the politicians were not worth pooing on!)

Yesterday (Monday) fed pretty much everything in the place, as well as cleaned snake cages.

A carpet snake with a mouth infection a fortnight back was cleared as healthy today, as was a tortoise with a similar mouth ailment now fixed.

We jump on health type complaints before they get serious and are very pro-active.

Our vet work is in house and we deal with things as found, NOT a day later as less experienced people invariably do.

Speed is of the essence with reptile care.

With all cages, cleaned and most chores done yesterday, today we can deal with other backlogged jobs including copying disks, backing up files and chasing up details of a few more near fatal snakebites involving newly licenced amateurs who have also been taught (the wrong way) by some other newly licenced amateurs.

Tomorrow a snake awareness display in Victoria in the country and later in the week a load of kids snake shows in Melbourne. It’s also the season for corporate snake and reptile shows in Melbourne with a heap of new bookings coming up.

Cheers from the snakeman
